Welcome to this crypto onboarding course. In the following chapters, you will find a guided journey into crypto through the example of an NFT purchase for people who want to start, or continue, building their initial knowledge of crypto technology and the ecosystem that's emerging around it.

People who want to learn about crypto often feel like they are trying to read the code from The Matrix. They're pretty sure there's something cool going on, but it's hard for them to tell if what they're looking at are actual words in a real language. So what does tokenomics even **mean? And why is there an acronym in every sentence?

Everyone, everyone, is new to crypto. The whole industry stems from a technology that is over 20 years old and spent quite a few years in the shadows. Still, the industry suffers from a very modern illness: information is overabundant and ubiquitous, so the challenge becomes separating the signal from the noise.

This course will provide a safe, guided, firsthand experience of using crypto that will help you get familiarised with the new concepts and mental models you need to dive deeper into the industry.

This course is for people who still need to dip their toes in crypto. It does not require much prior knowledge, although it helps if you've read a thing or two about crypto. But it will provide you with a firsthand experience that will make understanding all those cryptic articles about layers and throughput much better.

#36 The simplest possible explanation about Proof of Stake

The following chapters introduce you to blockchain technology's basics before diving into your first real experience.

You don't need to know about motors to drive a car, but it's different in crypto. Blockchain technology is new, and the user interface layer is still thin. So you are exposed to nuts and bolts as soon as you dive into crypto. But getting acquainted with the technology also gives a better perspective into the more profound contributions of this technology: how it might change whole industries like global finance or culture and transform the way we understand work and leisure in the digital age.

Before we dive into the step-by-step process of purchasing an NFT, let’s briefly introduce what NFTs are and what’s INTERPOLATIONS of Carbono Insights, the collection created by Carbono for educational purposes.

The experience of using crypto can be confusing for newcomers. It requires interacting with strange tools and new mental models (what does it mean to own a jpg?), and NFTs are probably the best example for this, because if you’ve reached this piece of content, you’re probably already familiar with e-commerce. Purchasing an NFT is a good-old digital purchase with a strong crypto flavor.
